Watching the snooker qualifiers
Qualifying is a separate event with its own address, ticket and playing order. Its venue is separate from the main-stage arena. The next confirmed example here is the UK Championship qualifying competition at Mattioli Arena in Leicester, 21–26 November 2026. WST advertises £12 all-day admission. Details checked on 6 October 2026.

The next dated qualifying visit
WST announced the 2026 UK Championship qualifying tickets on 24 September. The competition runs from 21 to 26 November at Mattioli Arena, Leicester. The published all-day price is £12. Eight tables operate over the first four days, with four tables on the last two. That means 21–24 November has the eight-table setup and 25–26 November the four-table setup.
Those dates precede the televised final stages at York Barbican, 28 November–6 December. Leicester and York require separate tickets and separate journeys. Our UK Championship page covers York's full prices and two-table-to-one-table final-stage layout.

Follow the official sale route from that announcement and read the total before payment. Check live availability with the official seller. The announcement also offers free admission to annual WST Play members, claimed through its stated email route. Arrange membership admission through that claim route before travelling.
Who is trying to reach York?
The UK final stage contains 32 players: the top 16 at its specified seeding cutoff and 16 players who come through qualifying. For the 2026 edition WST identifies the cutoff after the International Championship. Use the ranking list at that cutoff to identify the automatic qualifiers.
Qualifying decides the other half of the televised final-stage field. Players outside the automatic group are competing for those 16 places. Familiar professionals can appear alongside players whose names you have not followed. Entries and the draw identify which players are scheduled to compete.
If you want one player, find the official draw and then the day's order of play. Use the current order of play to check who remains in the competition on your date. Early-round winners advance and losers leave the competition. A later day may offer fewer matches and more decisive qualification contests, while an earlier day offers the larger published table setup.
What eight tables means for a spectator
A multi-table qualifying hall is a different viewing proposition from the Masters' single arena table. More matches can be in progress at once. Follow several scorelines, then choose a viewing position for the match that interests you. The exact admission arrangement and available viewing positions must come from the ticket and venue instructions.
Choose your priority before play begins: following a particular match, seeing a range of players, or watching the closing frames of a qualifying contest. Avoid moving while someone is down on a shot. Use breaks between frames and follow staff instructions about routes and seating. Other tables can still be playing during your chosen match's interval.
Qualifying can bring the spectator closer to the work of tournament snooker: referees setting up frames, players weighing safety options and the different rhythm of simultaneous matches. A public ticket covers the spectator areas stated in its terms. Follow the hall's seating arrangements and keep player routes clear.
Plan an all-day qualifying visit
An all-day product lets you buy the advertised day rather than one named York afternoon or evening. Read its conditions for session coverage, entry times and re-entry before arranging a long lunch away from the building. The admission conditions set out re-entry and spectator areas between scheduled blocks.
The draw and match lengths determine how much play you see. A match can finish comfortably, reach a deciding frame or fall behind its expected schedule. Each table follows its own match progress. The final two days have four tables, with finishing times dependent on those matches.
Leave room in your return journey for play running late. If the last affordable train would require leaving before your chosen player's match is settled, decide whether you accept that before buying. Check the actual service for your date. The same principle applies to a bus connection, a booked parking exit or a hotel check-in time.
Leicester and Sheffield qualifying venues
Mattioli Arena is the confirmed Leicester venue for the UK competition above. Check the event announcement for each qualifying venue. Different events have different qualifying dates and venues; some tournament formats hold selected matches over to the main venue. An event name on a calendar needs its own location check.
For a dated Sheffield example, the 2026 World Championship qualifiers ran at the English Institute of Sport from 6 to 15 April. WPBSA published £12 day admission and described roving access to all eight tables on Judgement Day. These details describe the completed 2026 event. Source: WPBSA, 6 April 2026.
The Crucible hosts the final stages. Our World Championship guide covers the theatre final stages. A future announcement is needed to establish the 2027 qualifying dates, venue and prices. Likewise, WPBSA's 14 September 2026 update named Mattioli Arena for three September ranking qualifiers. That is a separate, completed Leicester competition; check a new announcement for each future event.
The Masters is an invitational. Its 16-player field is selected directly through the event's ranking cutoff. Public qualifying tickets are available for the World and UK events described above. The Masters event page explains its single-table sessions at Alexandra Palace.
Bags, phones, food and access
Bag and phone rules belong to the venue and event you are attending. Use the hall's own phone instructions during play. If your admission is on a device, have it ready for entry and then follow the arena's recording and silence rules. Calls and notification sounds disturb more than the table you happen to be watching.
Check food and drink arrangements before planning an all-day stay. Check the outside-food policy and catering opening times for the whole day. Medical food, medication, assistance dogs and accessible entry routes are questions for the actual venue contact, with enough notice to resolve them.
[UNVERIFIED: The September UK ticket announcement does not establish a complete 2026 Leicester spectator policy for bags, re-entry, child admission and accessible viewing allocation. The linked organiser and venue information should be checked before booking; our York venue policies are not presented as Leicester rules.] Resolve those four questions with the organiser before purchasing admission for a child or an accessible viewing position.
A £12 ticket and a realistic budget
Leicester qualifying has a lower advertised admission price than York's cheapest Standard session. York's lowest 2026 Standard session is £30 before fees. The Leicester headline is £12 for a day, so its advertised ticket outlay is £18 less than that individual York session. Rail fares, distance from home, meals and an overnight stay can outweigh that £18 ticket saving.
Write down the ticket total separately from travel. Add the exact return fare, any local connection and food for the length of day you intend to stay. If you travel as a family or group, use the actual number of admissions and check whether the seller publishes an age or concession rule. Use the Leicester concession conditions for this purchase.
For a first visit focused on watching plenty of competitive snooker rather than a famous arena, qualifying is a reasonable option to investigate. For the Crucible experience, book the Sheffield final stages. For a multi-table qualifying day, compare the Leicester travel cost with the £12 advertised admission.
Keep the main-event guides beside the draw
Use the final-stage draw and playing order to book a successful qualifier's next match. Follow the players who earn the final-stage places, then consult the main draw and playing order before buying another ticket. A successful qualifier may appear in York against a seeded player, but the draw controls the pairing and session. Use the York playing order to find the successful qualifier's next session.
For transport, hotels and access at the three main-stage venues, use York Barbican, the Crucible and Alexandra Palace. Those hubs are deliberately venue-specific. Contact Mattioli Arena separately for its accessible routes and spectator allocation.
The next step is to open WST's dated announcement, follow its official ticket link and compare the draw with your available day. If a named player is essential, wait for the playing order before selecting your day. Our session-choice guide compares the main-stage alternatives using the actual price files.
